April!

 31 Autumn 549 (06 April 2003)

  • Every four years strange things happen in town! And again a rift appeared in town... at first I hesitated to enter it - a lot of strange colored folks was around, so I was not quite sure if it was save. But it proved to be great fun! (Even when water was involved in some games! Yuk!)

A rift appeared in town..
  • Beyond the rift was a boardwalk along a nice beach. And there were several huts, each one housing a game from another dimension. The first hut brought me into deep space! I could fire at noids of all sizes and had to avoid to touch them while drifting around. [Asteroids]
Well, the next was also interesting! It was a board of 10 x 10 fields and you got a dice. Each roll decided how many fields you could advance. If you ended on a field with a ladder, you could jump ahead some fields. But if you got on a field with a well it was going down again! Yikes! [Wells and Ladders]

Asternoids and Wells and Ladders.
  • A very fun game was the one where you had to run and slide in order to stop in the middle of a circle. This sounds easy, but took a lot of practice. Plus the sliding sometimes charged me electrically and tickled! Darn fur! 8) [Shufflepuck]

Viola likes that game for sure! 8)
  • Now there were the games with water. I was not so fond of them - one transformed you into a little frog and you had to survive a trip from one edge of the snell to the other. Avoiding a stream of animals and jump over swimming logs! [Frogger]
And then there was the waterball field! You were shot inside some tilted area and bounced of from targets and you could control flippers to bring you up again, if you went down to far. Well, it worked not so well and there were several fields of water. Enough said! [A flipper!]

Frogger and a flipper!
  • There was also the "Whack a vermine" game, where you had to react quickly to hit vermines which were popping up randomly from the ground! This was pretty easy, but I am used to vermine hunting a lot! 8) [Whack-a-Mole?]
The last one was "Orefinder". A big field filled with ore! I was soooo happy 8) Pity I was not allowed to keep any of it. Well, you had to pick up the ore, but you were hunted by several ghosts! In each corner was a donut, which allowed you to hunt the ghosts down yourself for some limited time. Very addicting and fun in groups! 8) [Pacman].

For each game mastered you were awarded a little gold star. Took some effort, but I collected all of them and went to claim my price! A bunch of funny thooms offered me three bottles of skin dye. Hard to choose! And then I knew why there were so many colorful fellows in town *chuckle*. Yay! Thanks to the Gamemasters for a hell of a time in another dimension!

And claim the price!
